I’m trying to hunt down a book that I know I liked when I was younger(late elementary school). It’s a YA or children’s novel. I remember there being some kind of magical plague… I think the people afflicted would eventually go comatose? The protagonist is a preteen or teenage female who I believe was in something like a servant role… I seem to remember the book having a similar ‘feel’ to the Chrestomanci novels. It definitely was published before 2003. Any ideas?
It could be The Two Princesses of Bamarre by Gail Carson Levine.
I’m the 4 yr olds nanny. I do not think the books are appropriate and will not read these books to the kids.
The books are hunting books. One is the rifle and the 3 bears. The kid in the book kills a bear for a rug for his bed and war sausage.
Other book is killing animals is Africa and other one is killing deer.
The boy just turned 4. Would you buy these books for a 4 yr old? And is it wrong I won’t read these to him?
I’m against hunting especially animals is Africa.
Above Should Say BEAR not War.
I put the books away. He got several of the books for his bday. 2 of them are appropriate and about 5 are not. I wouldn’t even get these type of books for a elementary age kid.
Makes me so frustrated an mad. Kids should love all animals an enjoy looking at them and playing with them not learning to kill. : (
They have tons of other books with animals that are good.
Richa- I agree. It still bothers me an I need to let it go. Bothers me cause I’m a huge animal lover and this lil boy is very sensitive. He gets scared watching some tinker bell movies, anything really not for kids older then 2-3. He is 4. Anyway.
I don’t think that’s appropriate for a 4 year old and I understand why you won’t read them. Try to introduce them to animal loving books instead. Get books about how people should care for animals instead. I recommend somewhat interactive books to keep them interested.

Thoughts?
I’m not gonna say anything to the parents unless the kid starts getting scare from the books.
I did put the books up an will not read them. The parents can if they want to.
@manner. Cause he is 4 and gets scared really easy. Only shows he will watch are toddler shows cause he gets scared. He is a sensitive boy.
@aliyah. I bought him a super hero book for his bday. It’s a level one. He loves it. It’s a cute book. I know what he likes an what scares him. I’ll just leave it at that by keeping the books up.
One part shows a dead elephant. Another page shows a animal with zebra skin in its mouth.
Bear book shows the dead bear.
These are animals kids love seeing at the Zoo.
Aliyah- whoever is disagreeing with you is wrong.
The parents are probably interested in hunting. If it’s not your cup of tea just put them aside.
Are e-books priced the same as paper-back books, or do they tend to cost more than paperback?
Posted By: // Category: HuntingI’m currently debating whether or not I should buy an e-reader. Convenience is the number one issue that is tempting me. Being able to buy books instantly is a dream come true. I’m tired of always hunting for books (popular books, too!) in stores; they are almost always out of stock or I have to wait forever to get a paperback copy. I’m lazy and impatient, so I think an e-reader would be wonderful. Also, the portability of it and the other functions it comes with would come in handy.
However, unless it’s a very important book that I want to display on my shelf with pride, I NEVER buy hardback books due to the prices. I always wait for paperback copies of books to be released before I buy.
So, are most ebooks for popular titles priced based on hardback prices or paperback prices? I’m pretty sure you can get paperback books for $7-$10. I probably wouldn’t want to pay more than $10 for an ebook, especially since I plan to be reading a lot.
Am I better off just sticking to regular books and not reading as often as I would with a Nook?
@Blondie: Exactly!! I have a giant box in storage of paperback books. Ones I’ve bought very cheaply at Half Price, Book Rack, and Walmart. But once I’ve read them, they just get dumped in my box since I have no shelf-room for them! Only my really special books get shelved!
I do rent books from the library. A lot of times, I go and buy the books I rented so that I can read them again someday or loan them out! I’m very keen on having my own personal library.
I should add to my last edit that new books are usually checked out already. It’s hard to guarantee availability at the library. Also, library books vary in quality. I’ve checked some out before that had pages torn and scribbles on some pages. People don’t know how to take care of books.
I think, in general, eBooks tend to be a bit cheaper. You do no have the extra cost of paper and ink, and there’s no differences like hardcover or paperback. So of the older books with expired copyrights, the classic, can be downloaded for free. I personally love the feel of a book in my hand and the smell of paper, but if you buy a lot of books, I say the eBooks are less expensive. You can also download books from the library onto your device. And nowadays, paperbacks tend to be more expensive, around twelve dollars or so. Hope I helped!
I’m really confused about how to start the first chapter of my book?
Posted By: // Category: HuntingI’ve written 2 books so far (still not published) but this one is a little tricky as I’m writing in 3rd person for the first time. I’m confident with the rest of the story, it’s just that first few pages. my first sentence? I need some tips, from experienced writers. I’ve considered starting off with the description of location or of the weather like in Of Mice And Men, and the characters appear. I think I may need your help! Thank you very much.
Weather is REALLY overused to begin books. 3rd person or not. Also, people don’t like running/action sequences either because that also has been overdone. My best suggestion is you start with a drop in on conversation. And make it an interesting conversation because it needs to hook your reader.
Example:
"Sasquatch is back."
It was a simple three word statement, but it had the entire room staring at Trisha. Normally she was the quiet one in the back of the class, but today she got the spotlight. Living on the outskirts of Redbrooke had its advantages– even it if meant being the bearer of bad news. "My dad and his coworkers spotted him on the logging pass," she continued. "Dad says that he saw a stag tossed over its shoulder so we have some time to gather offerings, but Sasquatch is hunting early this year. Make sure to stay out of the forest."
Sorry its bad, but its the best example I could think up XD Hope it helps!
What happens in the third and fourth books of the twilight saga?
Posted By: // Category: HuntingI’ve already seen the first and second movie (Twilight and New Moon), and I can’t wait for the other two. I don’t like reading that much and have no time to read any of the books. So could you tell me what basically hapens in the third and fourth books?
Thank’s every1 for your answers!
Just curious though, all of you seem to say that Jacob "Imprints" on Bella’s baby. What does that mean, I’m confused?
yep, i sure could.
I’ve read all.
Twilight and New Moon, you already know..
So next is ECLIPSE:
The story opens with the revelation that Seattle, Washington is being plagued by a string of unsolved murders, which Edward suspects is caused by a new vampire that is unable to control its thirst for human blood. As Edward and Bella apply to colleges, Bella explains to Edward her desire to see her werewolf friend, Jacob Black, again. Although Edward fears for her safety, Bella insists that neither Jacob nor his werewolf pack would ever harm her, and she begins visiting him occasionally. Meanwhile, Alice Cullen has a vision that Victoria, a vampire who is hunting Bella for revenge, has returned to Forks. A few days later, Edward proposes to Bella and, despite having an aversion to marriage, she accepts.
Bella and the Cullens realize that the murders in Seattle are being committed by an "army" of newborn vampires, controlled by Victoria. The Cullens join forces with the werewolf pack to combat this threat. As everyone else prepares for battle, Edward, Bella, and Jacob camp up in the mountains, hidden during the battle, where they are later joined by Seth Clearwater, a young member of the werewolf pack, to wait out the fight.
In the morning, Jacob becomes upset when he overhears Edward and Bella discussing their engagement and threatens to join the fight and get himself killed. To stop him, Bella kisses Jacob and comes to realize that she is in love with him too. During the battle, Victoria tracks Edward’s scent to where Bella is hidden in the woods, and Edward is forced to fight. After Victoria and her army are successfully destroyed, Bella explains to Jacob that while she loves him, her love for Edward is greater. After receiving a wedding invitation from Edward, Jacob runs away in his wolf form to escape his pain, angry and heartbroken at Bella’s decision to become a vampire.
Then is BREAKING DAWN:
reaking Dawn is split into three separate parts. The first part details Bella’s marriage and honeymoon with Edward, which they spend on a private island off the coast of Brazil. Two weeks into their honeymoon, Bella realizes that she is pregnant and that her condition is progressing at an unnaturally accelerated rate. After contacting Carlisle, who confirms her pregnancy, she and Edward immediately return home to Forks, Washington. Edward, concerned for Bella’s life and convinced that the fetus is a monster as it continues to develop with unnatural rapidity, urges her to have an abortion. However, Bella feels a pull towards the child and refuses to go through with the procedure.
The second part of the novel is written from the perspective of werewolf Jacob Black, and lasts throughout Bella’s pregnancy and childbirth. Jacob’s Quileute werewolf pack, not knowing what danger the unborn child may pose, make plans to destroy it, even though they must kill Bella to do so. Jacob vehemently protests this decision and leaves, forming his own pack with Leah and Seth Clearwater. Bella soon gives birth, but the baby breaks many of her bones and she loses massive amounts of blood. In order to save her life, Edward changes her into a vampire by injecting his venom into her heart. Jacob, who was present for the birth, almost immediately "imprints"—an involuntary response in which a werewolf finds his soul mate—on Edward and Bella’s newborn daughter, Renesmee.
The third section of Breaking Dawn shifts back to Bella’s perspective, finding her changed into a vampire and enjoying her new life and abilities. However, the vampire Irina misidentifies Renesmee as an "immortal child", a child who has been turned into a vampire. Because "immortal children" are uncontrollable, creating them has been outlawed by the Volturi. After Irina presents her allegation to the Volturi, they plan to destroy Renesmee and the Cullens. In an attempt to survive, the Cullens gather other vampire clans from around the world to stand as witnesses and prove to the Volturi that Renesmee is not an immortal child. Upon confronting the gathered Cullen allies and witnesses, the Volturi discover that they have been misinformed and immediately execute Irina for her mistake. However, they remain undecided on whether Renesmee should be viewed as a threat to vampires’ secret existence. At that time, Alice and Jasper, who had left prior to the confrontation, return with a Mapuche called Nahuel, a 150-year-old vampire-human crossbreed like Renesmee. He demonstrates that the crossbreeds pose no threat, and the Volturi surrender. Edward, Bella and Renesmee return to their home in peace.
Hope this helps
IMPRINTING:
Imprinting occurs when a shapeshifter finds their soul mate. The moment the shapeshifter sees the one they are destined to be with, they imprint. It is described as having every connection with everything else severed and instead being only connected to this earth for the other person. After that, nobody else matters because you are only there for your other half, your soul mate.
If an imprinted person is killed by someone, the wolf who imprinted on them can never forgive the killer. If the killer happens to be another wolf from the pack, the wolves would have no choice but to fight to the death. For this reason, the most important law among the La Push shape-shifter pack is that no wolf may kill the object of a fellow wolf’s imprinting.
It is unknown what would happen if a wolf was rejected by their imprinted one, though this is declared as almost impossible as the imprinter is the "perfect match" to the imprintee- they will be anything the imprintee ever wanted or needed, making rejection extremely unlikely.
Stages
There are stages to imprinting, especially if the person on who the shapeshifter has imprinted is young.
First Stage
If the person is young, the shapeshifter will act as an older sibling.
Second Stage
As the person gets older, the shapeshifter will also come to be their friend.
Third Stage
When the person is old enough, the shapeshifter’s feelings are suspected to grow into romantic love, but this hasn’t been comfirmed.
If the shapeshifter imprints on a person around their age, their feelings are immediately romantic.
I’m an advanced teenage reader that needs a really good hard book. I can read quite advanced adult books, but my parents are afraid they aren’t suitable. The books designed for young teens aren’t challenging and are all vampire romances. I’ve enjoyed books such as Never Let Me Go, The Book Thief and The Perks Of Being A Wallflower. I am not a fantasy/supernatural type.
Bacigalupi, Paolo. Ship Breaker .
Nailer is a light crew scavenger tearing up old hulks of ships, living day to day, until a rich girl and her gleaming ship run ashore in a storm on the beach and his life gets more dangerous
De Vigan, Delphine. No and Me.
Brilliant, lonely and compassionate, thirteen-year-old Lou befriends a homeless eighteen-year-old, No, and is determined to save her.
Edwardson, Debby Dahl. Blessing’s Bead.
This book is a beautifully written account of life in Alaska through the eyes of an Inupiaq family. One child is given a special bead which threads the generations together
Gleitzman, Morris. Once.
Felix, a naive Jewish boy in a Catholic orphanage, runs away to find his parents in Nazi-occupied Poland.
Mulligan, Andy. Trash . .
Three garbage-picker boys find an item of great value to a corrupt politician on their rounds, setting off a tense hunt to see who will triumph

I live in upstate NY and have a 9mm Beretta CX4 Storm. I was told I could use it for hunting by the gunshop owner I bought the rifle from. After getting my hunting license & reading the book, I realized I can’t hunt deer with it because the clip holds more than 5 rounds; so what can I hunt with this 10 round bullpup style rifle?
I don’t know about NY state laws but you really need to check the local laws and game warden and talk to someone who isn’t trying to sell you the gun. 9mm is to small to hunt anything but squirrels and rabbits and the occasional close range varmint. You’ve got more issues than just the number of rounds the magazine holds I’m afraid. Do some research of your local hunting regulations and get the answers you need before you find yourself talking to the game warden on bad terms. Most any place that sells fishing gear guns ammo or hunting licenses should have a copy of the local regulations available for you. Good luck
What books with afro-american people can you recommend to me?
Posted By: // Category: HuntingI don’t want old books, historical , but new books with their life stories. It would be great if those books were translated in romanian, but not necessarily…cause I know that’s almost impossible

Do you know of any good books about a rock band or someone in a band?
Posted By: // Category: HuntingI really liked Five Flavors of Dumb by Antony John. I am open to YA or Adult books. I would be ok with a character who is even just in a band. I’m doing research for a project and need more books to compare, so thanks!
The 2 ‘Hunted’ books, Fake ID and Club Dread, written by Walter Sorrells, have a main character named Chass who plays guitar in a band. I liked the books.
