Meet the fishing cat. This feline from Asia is a lesser cat that loves the water and will actually swim to catch its prey. Big Cat Rescue supports the “Way Kambas” park in Sumatra which saves habitat for the tiger, which also is where the fishing cat lives.

@unreals500 Buying …
@unreals500 Buying and owning a fishing cat won’t stop the species from becoming extinct, cats that are bred in the species survival plan are pure genetically. Owning exotic cats as “pets” does nothing for the species of any WILD cat and the people who do own them make others want to go out and do the same thing unfortunately

@BigCatRescue I …
@BigCatRescue I know someone who owns two of them in france but he has a super large garden with a mini lake filled with fish. And believe me they are both healthy, happy and they live as free as any wildcat. I’d love to own one to assure it lives since they’re becoming rare. So maybe arnstrong wants one for the same reason.

Perhaps there …
Perhaps there should be a humourous as well as educational cartoon (or movie) featuring a fishing cat character (if not already produced or in production) to bring more attention to this species of feline in order to keep it from extinction. With donations going toward the conservation and preservation of fishing cats. Just a thought.

No tigers and …
No tigers and jaguars like the water too, other species like lion cross paths of water if they have to, but generally stay away from it, tigers on the other hand can swim up to 20 miles a day searching for prey/mate/territory!
