awesome catch, gilling a fish is actuall cutting the gills out of the fish, landing it with your hand on the gill plate is not going to necessary kill the fish. looked pretty healthy when he swam away.

That fish is dead, regardless of whether it was released. After grabbing it in the gills, scrapping it on the ice, and playing with it out of the water for ten minutes, you might as well keep it at that point
