This video shows (the flight to and) the trek from Lukla (2,800 metres) to Mt. Everest base camp (5,300 metres) and Kala Pattar (5,550 metres) in Khumbu Himal, Nepal. It’s a combination of film footage and photos. I went there in Spring 2006.

At 28 I climbed a “low” mountain (14,400), up and down in one day was OK. At 38 I climbed the same mountain with much greater effort, no descent and altitude sickness. At 49, I think just getting to the base of Everest would be all I could do. It takes a rare person to conquer that beast.
