Hiking to the Great Gallery – Canyonlands National Park, Utah
Author: Jeff Sherman | Category: Hiking
A hike in the Horseshoe Canyon section of Canyonlands National Park in Utah leads to the Great Gallery, a site considered to be the most significant ancient rock art panel in North America. The pictographs at the Great Gallery are between 2000 to 8000 years old and includes the “Holy Ghost”. The trail leads to three other pictograph panels, High Gallery, Horseshoe Gallery and Alcove Gallery.

@adanglassworld The drive there is easy. It’s a graded dirt road which is most flat right up to the trailhead parking lot.

First and foremost, awesome video. Quick question – my wife and I are going to fly out there for vacation next month. I’m curious about the 30 mile dirt road in. What can you tell me about the condition of it? Canyonlands says it’s graded and 2wd, but I want to have a clue what I’m getting myself into before I get there. I’d appreciate any feedback you can give me.

I have one of those pictographs as my screen saver. You guys actually went there. That’s so cool. It’s way more intense to see the whole thing and much of which I hadn’t seen before. So who do think those guys on the rock are? Who is the main guy and where do the other players stand in the whole game?

Great video. I try to visit the Great Gallery each time I get out west to the southern Utah area. No matter how many times I’ve been there it always humbles and amazes me.
