I have hiked Angels Landing at Zion, but not the Subway or the Narrows. I am looking forward to both. This video is an inspiration to make it happen!

Love this hike. …
Love this hike. I’ve done it several times. 1st two times was in 1972 & 1973. We went as a scout troop. We were told we were the first large group to ever go up the canyon. Back then we went up, I didn’t know you could go down it until I started doing it again in the early 2000′s. We spent three days doing the hike. Two night’s in the canyon itself. I’ll have to scan my 110 photo’s that aren’t very good into a video and put it on youtube one of these days. Those were the good old days.

@sunstarsmoon …
@sunstarsmoon Thanks for watching! We did this hike in the middle of the Summer, so Southern Utah heat dries you out pretty fast. But yes, the water is reeeeaaaaally cold when you hop into it. The hike is well worth the effort, though.

@Maykacha If you’re …
@Maykacha If you’re planning on July, make sure to get your reservation/permit several months in advance.
1. Distance = a less than 9 miles.
2. Time = 10-12 hours unless you’re in really good shape.
3. We used a 60 foot climbing rope. This is the minimum length needed.
4. We didn’t use gloves.
5. 3 of our party had neoprene footwear. 1 didn’t. She was the only person who didn’t slip and fall.
6. Trail starts at Wildcat Canyon Trailhead.
7. YouTube isn’t letting me post URL’s, sorry.

Where is the starting point of the trail ? Do we need a permit ? Is there a map existing ?. . . maybe you know a website were i could find all this answers !?
Sorry for my english, I’m french from Quebec. I plan for this trip on july 2010 and if you have time – and if you want

My favorite hike in …
My favorite hike in Zion. Truly one of the most unique spots one could ever see. I love doing this hike in Oct. Nice, cool weather, and beautiful fall colors, and hardly anyone else to see.

@iskanderdumacedon …
@iskanderdumacedon Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Our vacation plans changed from California to Arizona, and while I’m happy to go either place, I knew we couldn’t do the Narrows (due to water temp), so I wanted to find some other places that my wife and I could see. Thanks for sharing your video and your info.

@adanglassworld The …
@adanglassworld The ropes obstacle at 7:56 is just above the portion of the Subway visible at 8:03. Some people may be crazy enough to go further, but this ropes obstacle is functionally the end-of-the-line for anyone hiking from the bottom up. Thanks for the views and comments, and good luck!

If you’re coming …
If you’re coming back from the “non-technical side,” how far into the subway can you go before you actually have to start using ropes?
Great video.

Half of me asks…”Why would anybody voluntarily do this to themself?” the other half (from your awesome camera work and movie makin’ skills) makes me want to try it out! Thanks for giving us a preview and risking your camera & life in the meantime!

Good job Alex. I’ve never hiked the subway, and thanks to this video, I never have to. I got to experience the hike sitting at my computer, dry, rested, and happy. Are you taking requests for other hikes I’m too lazy to take?

Super! Really. We are going the first week of September and this video make it easy to explain the experience to my wife who has yet to hike it. By the way, you guys must have hiked it a few years ago when you did this video? I don’t think the downed log crossing the canyon is still there? When did you go?

Awesome job on this Alex. I’ve hiked the subway at least 9 times and I think you’ve expertly portrayed the feel of being there. (not the sore feet feel, the being there feel)
