    @emieldelange …
    @emieldelange Namibia is 22 degrees south of the equator. The longest days are in December and daylight can be a little more than 13 hours. Still not enough to hunt for eight hours and have bright sunshine all through the hunt. I had assumed that it was near the equator since they said that the sun was directly overhead at the beginning of the hunt. Since it is not very near the equator the sun is never directly overhead in Namibia and they are wrong in saying that is was.

    Your lion estimation is very generous. They only have a 30% succes rate and often go days without food.

    Its not near the equator, he says they are Kalahari Bushmen which means they are in Namibia/Botswana.

    Firstly the female would need a male to fertilise her.
    Secondly keeping captive animals (i.e. cattle) requires migration to find new feeding ground so that they can graze. Many cultures and tribes do keep cattle.

    As you can see at the end of the video, those people respect the life and imprison those animals would be a breach of their ethics. Unfortunately this kind of respect is not common in our society…

    I had a few questions, why don’t they just run down a female and raise her kids in a farm so they don’t always have to run one down when they want to eat?

    also, does the saliva actually work or is it just a placebo?

    When the hunt is …
    When the hunt is beginning we are told that the sun is directly overhead. This means that it is near the equator and the time is about noon. When the hunt ends eight hours later the sun is still high in the sky. But…daylight at the equator is only twelve hours. At eight in the evening the sun would already be down. The runner must have used very powerful magic to stop the movement of the sun in the sky!
