Hiking
In his book, Searching for a Perfect State of Colorado, author William Hood takes us along on his own harrowing journey as he attempts to cross the Weminuche Wilderness Area, by himself, in September of 2002. He would complete this one hundred mile trek in just nine days as backpacking across the San Juan mountains transcends from a physical challenge, to a mental test, to ultimately a spiritual enlightenment.

Hiking
One of my favorite things to do is be out in the woods away from everything. My Dad and brother in law Ryan and I went backpacking in October on the AT in New Jersey. Great trip! Doing stuff like this helps me remember what life is really all about.

Hiking
My friend Tom and I flew out to Seattle in August of 2008 to get away. We took a ferry across Puget Sound to Bremerton to pick a rental car then drove down to Mt. St. Helens. From there we drove through Aberdeen, Ruby Beach, and Forks to hike and camp on the Olympic Coast. From there we went north to Lake Crescent and into Olympic National Park and camped at Olympic Hot Springs. From the hot springs we headed back to Seattle. The Pacific Northwest is a beautiful little corner of the world and I highly recommend a visit there to anyone.
A note on the music: I don’t own the rights to this song and never claim to. The song belongs to the Dave Matthews Band. I have seen other videos where music is played and I am not sure how to legally do that as I am pretty new to uploading videos. Any advice to do this properly would be welcome.

http://www.geartalkwithjasonklass.com/ A lot of people have asked me to do a video on what I carry in my pack for day hiking and backpacking. Since I was out on a day hike today, I took a moment to go through what I typically carry on a 3-season day hike. I’ll do another video on what I carry for backpacking trips soon.

http://www.hikingequipmentsite.com/hiking-poles/hiking-equipment-all-about-hiking-poles – Learn more on Walking, Trekking or Hiking Poles and how to use them on my blog post.
Hiking Poles, also known as walking poles, trekking poles, hiking sticks, walking canes, hiking canes are an increasingly popular item of hiking equipment. Poles are perhaps your best friend when walking on relatively difficult, snowy or muddy terrain. On uncertain terrain, or steep slopes, they are useful for stability, and many people say they help to minimise knee pain. They can also be used as aids when climbing rocks or boulders, to check the depth of mud and water and help facilitate a safe crossing.
